Vice Chancellor (Baba Guru Nanak University)

Role Description

The Vice Chancellor is the principal executive and academic leader of Baba Guru Nanak University, Nankana Sahib. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting excellence in teaching, research, and publications, while ensuring efficient administration and overall development of the University.

Essential Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must not exceed sixty-five (65) years of age on the application deadline.
• Possess a PhD degree from an institution recognized by HEC or listed by UNESCO.
• Have substantial experience in a senior academic, research, or management leadership role.
• Demonstrate a distinguished record of research and publications.
• Be prepared to submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their current employer before the interview stage.

Terms of Appointment & Remuneration

The appointment will be for a term of four years, serving at the pleasure of the Chancellor. The incumbent will be entitled to the maximum salary package equivalent to a Professor on the Tenure Track System (TTS), as approved by the Government.

Application Procedure

Interested professionals must apply using the prescribed pro-forma, downloadable from www.hed.punjab.gov.pk. The completed pro-forma must be accompanied by the following documents:

• Certified copies of Curriculum Vitae (CV), educational certificates, degrees, and diplomas.
• Detailed evidence of certified teaching and administrative experience, presented as an Experience Certificate issued by the relevant Registrar, Admin Office, or HR Office (posting notifications are not acceptable).
• A list of HEC-recognized research publications, including certified copies of the first page and index page of the recognized journals.
• A detailed CV highlighting eligibility criteria and personal attributes, starting with SSC/O Level details, grades, and names of institutions attended.
• Three recent passport-size photographs.

The main application (pro-forma with all supporting documents and resume) must be addressed to the Secretary Higher Education Department / Secretary of the Search Committee, Higher Education Department, Old DPI Building, New Anarkali, Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.

Crucial Requirement: Seven (7) additional copies of the filled-in prescribed pro-forma ONLY must be submitted along with the main application.

Deadline: Complete applications must reach the Higher Education Department no later than May 9, 2025, before the close of office hours. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Interview Process: Shortlisted candidates must attend the interview in person in Lahore. Interviews via video link (Skype, WhatsApp, etc.) are not permitted, except for candidates currently employed abroad.
*Eligible candidates applying for Vice Chancellor positions at multiple universities will be interviewed once by the Search Committee to assess suitability for each institution.
