System Engineer

Job Overview

The Finance Department, Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is recruiting a System Engineer (PPS-8) for its 'GB Automation and Digitization of Revenues' project. This is a contract position for an initial term of three years, located in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Key Responsibilities

The System Engineer will be responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This includes managing servers, virtualization platforms, storage, cloud services (Azure), and ensuring system security and availability.

Qualifications

Education: Master's Degree / BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Software Engineering (minimum 16 years of education) from an HEC recognized university/institution.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), or equivalent proof of certifications in System Administration, Network, or Information Security are required.

Experience

A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in system engineering or administration, gained in either the government or private sector.

Skills

• Proficiency in system administration (Windows/Linux).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure.
• Understanding of network management and information security principles.
• Experience with IT infrastructure management and monitoring tools.
