Role Overview
National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is seeking a skilled Senior Systems Administrator (OG-I / AVP) specializing in AIX / Linux for their Central region, based in Lahore. This role involves managing and maintaining critical server infrastructure.Reporting Structure
The Senior Systems Administrator will report to the Unit Head – Systems Administration (AIX / Linux).Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain AIX / Linux platforms, servers, and perform day-to-day maintenance/monitoring (production, development, testing).
- Install, configure, and optimize operating systems and related software based on IT infrastructure planning.
- Ensure stability, security, and performance of all AIX / Linux servers.
- Manage AIX / Linux environments including upgrades, migration, maintenance, and patching.
- Troubleshoot critical issues on Linux servers and provide ad-hoc support for system recoveries.
- Execute backup and recovery operations for AIX / Linux operating systems.
- Automate technical and operational tasks using shell/bash scripting.
- Manage principal support, SLA monitoring, and renewals.
- Conduct research and recommend solutions for operational improvement.
- Provide 24/7 system administration support for AIX / Linux environments with quick resolutions.
- Escalate issues/incidents to the line manager and vendors as needed.
- Perform regular hardware and software audits for AIX / Linux servers, ensuring compliance with standards, policies, security protocols, and OEM guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent from an HEC recognized institution. A Master's degree or relevant certifications are preferred.
- Minimum 04 years of experience in IT Systems Administration, with at least 02 years specifically in Systems Administration of AIX and/or Linux, preferably within the banking sector.
Skills and Expertise
- Sound knowledge of AIX / Linux operating systems.
- Ability to design system architecture and recovery systems, manage security setup, performance optimization, patching, auditing, proactive monitoring, health checks, alerts/notifications setup.
- Strong working knowledge of system architecture, administration concepts, server virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM), and shell/bash scripting.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
