Unit Head - AD, Exchange & Internet Security (AVP / VP)

Role Overview

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), a leading financial institution in the country, is transforming its operations to become a future-fit, agile, and sustainable bank. As part of this vision, NBP is looking for a talented and dedicated Unit Head for AD, Exchange & Internet Security. This is a senior position (AVP / VP) based in Karachi, responsible for overseeing the critical messaging and collaboration infrastructure of the bank.

Educational and Experience Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent. A Master's degree in a relevant field is also acceptable.
• The degree must be from a local or international university/college/institute recognized by the HEC.
• Candidates with relevant certifications will be preferred.

Experience:

• A minimum of 06 years of experience in IT infrastructure.
• At least 02 years of this experience must be at a supervisory level in Microsoft Systems Administration and/or Active Directory Exchange and/or IT Infrastructure Operations, preferably within a bank.

Required Skills and Expertise

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding and expertise in the following areas:

• Strong background in MS Exchange (2016 and higher) and MS Outlook.
• Planning, designing, and implementing Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory.
• Sound knowledge of network protocols (POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP/S, LDAP).
• Configuring native and 3rd party backup and management tools.
• Expertise in secure mail gateways (e.g., Cisco, Barracuda, Web Proxy) and Hybrid-Exchange environments.
• Good expertise in virtualization technologies like Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware.
• Basic scripting skills (PowerShell).
• Ability to research, recommend innovation, and lead in critical situations.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties for this position include:

• Installing, configuring, and managing large deployments of Microsoft Exchange, Windows Server, Active Directory, and related messaging systems.
• Analyzing technical problems and creating solutions using existing or new tools.
• Deploying centralized policies for anti-spam/anti-virus filtering.
• Monitoring server performance, running diagnostic tests, managing backups, and performing cluster failovers.
• Managing systems and infrastructure components for mission-critical computing environments.
• Planning and executing capacity planning for hardware/software licenses.
• Staying abreast of emerging technologies and managing vendor SOPs, SLAs, and renewals.
