Systems Administrator (AVP / VP)

Position Overview

National Bank of Pakistan is strengthening its Information Technology department and is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator at the AVP / VP level. Based in Karachi, this role is crucial for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the bank's diverse IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability and robust performance of its core systems. The position reports to various Unit Heads within the Systems Administration and support domains.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Candidates wishing to apply must meet the following prerequisites:

Education:

• A minimum Bachelor's degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent. A Master's degree in a relevant field is also acceptable.
• The degree must be from an HEC-recognized local or international institution.
• Relevant professional certifications will be given preference.

Experience:

• A minimum of 06 years of experience in the field of IT.
• At least 04 years of this experience must be in Systems Administration, preferably within a banking environment.

Required Technical Expertise

The role requires hands-on expertise in several of the following platforms and languages:

• LINUX: Administration experience with Redhat, Ubuntu, CentOS, including shell/bash scripting.
• AIX (IBM): Administration with experience of LPAR, HMC, security hardening, and patching.
• Microsoft: Windows Server Administration, with experience in Active Directory, Exchange, SCCM, DHCP, DNS, and SSL Certificate Management.
• Oracle: Product administration for Oracle Exadata, Weblogic, Golden Gate, and Cloud Control, with knowledge of Oracle Databases, RAC, and Data Guard.
• MSSQL Server: Administration with experience of SQL AlwaysON, HA/DR, and knowledge of DB components.
• A strong understanding of system architecture, administration concepts, RFPs, and SLAs.

Core Responsibilities

The Systems Administrator will be tasked with:

• Managing IT infrastructure effectively, including day-to-day support, monitoring, and operations for production, development, and testing environments.
• Handling upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and patching activities for all ongoing projects.
• Managing and implementing security standards such as encryption and security certificates.
• Performing backup activities, disaster recovery planning, and routine hardware/software audits.
• Providing 24/7 operating support, resolving incidents, and escalating issues as per laid-down procedures.
• Maintaining and managing virtualized environments and planning changes related to Security Information and Event Management (SIEMs).
