Chief Legal Officer

Position Overview

PESCO seeks a highly qualified Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to head its legal department. Reporting to the CEO, the CLO will provide legal counsel, manage litigation, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee all legal matters of the company. The initial term is three years.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

The CLO must demonstrate leadership, strong analytical skills, and expertise in relevant legal areas. Responsibilities include managing legal risks, drafting legal documents, representing PESCO, and advising senior management on legal implications.

Qualification & Experience

• 16-year degree: LL.B. / LL.M. / Barrister at Law.
• Minimum 15 years of post-qualification relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a senior management position.
• Licensed advocate eligible to practice before High Court. Provision of Certificate for permission to act and plead issued by relevant Bar Council is mandatory (Certificate for Lower Court also required).
• Strong background in corporate, advisory, commercial law, and dispute resolution, preferably related to the power sector.
• Thorough knowledge of electricity laws, the regulatory framework, and public utilities.
• Experience of work with Government and Regulatory Authorities.
• Excellent drafting skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Upper age limit of 57 years.

3. Mention the post applied for ('Chief Legal Officer') on the top center of the cover letter.
4. Submit the application along with the following documents: Copies of degrees/testimonials verified by HEC/relevant body, detailed CV with two recent passport-size photographs, attested copies of CNIC and experience documents, two work references and two personal references, and a declaration on non-judicial stamp paper (duly attested) affirming eligibility as per relevant laws.
5. Candidates currently in government service should apply through the proper channel.
