Sr. Supervisor - Chemical Pathology

Job Summary

Dr. Ziauddin Hospital is seeking a dedicated Sr. Supervisor - Chemical Pathology to oversee daily operations of the Chemical Pathology section at our Head Office (North Campus). The incumbent will ensure accurate and timely diagnostic testing, manage technical staff, maintain high-end analytical platforms, manage inventory, and resolve day-to-day lab issues. Responsibilities also include managing complaints, coordinating services across all Ziauddin Hospital campuses, and ensuring strict adherence to ISO 15189 and CAP standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily testing workflows to ensure samples are processed within established Turnaround Times (TAT).
• Oversee the validation, calibration, and routine maintenance of all analytical platforms and automated systems.
• Monitor inventory levels across the section and ensure the timely procurement of reagents and consumables to prevent service interruptions.
• Review and troubleshoot daily technical issues, equipment malfunctions, and analytical errors.
• Coordinate with other Ziauddin campuses to streamline processes and resource sharing.
• Assist the Section Head/HOD in monitoring the departmental budget and minimizing reagent wastage.
• Track cost-per-test metrics and consumption patterns to ensure operational efficiency.
• Prepare monthly duty rosters and manages staff leaves to ensure 24/7 laboratory coverage.
• Lead the section through CAP and ISO 15189 accreditation audits and drives continuous Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs).

Knowledge and Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of routine and special chemistry testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and advanced middleware management.
• Strong understanding of Internal Quality Control (IQC) and External Quality Assessment (EQA).
• Leadership and conflict-resolution skills in a high-volume clinical setting.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and hazardous waste management in a laboratory environment.

Requirements & Application Method

Academic Qualifications: BS in Medical Technology (MLT) or Bsc./Msc. in Biochemistry/ Chemical Pathology field.
Working Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in a clinical chemistry with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
