Job Summary
Act in a leading role regarding the Hospital medicines safety matters and ensure it develops in line with the local, regional and national policies. Work with the Team Leaders of Clinical Services & Governance regarding the operational management and strategic development of the Medicines Safety Programmed and to reduce the risk of medication incidents.Job Responsibilities
- Ensure the highest professional standards of counter prescribing and medicines protocol implementation.
- Interview, select and induct new staff following hospital policy and procedure.
- Confirm specified stock list in the Pharmacy the range and level of which should match usage and be agreed upon. Keeping a record of the Crash trolley list and overseeing the maintenance of same.
- Ensure that the training and development needs of all staff are assessed and that appropriate training and guidance is given.
- Carry out audits especially controlled drug audits promptly and report any problems to Chief Pharmacist, as appropriate. Manage inventory of the Pharmacy.
- Plans the needs and Department budget in coordination with the Chief Pharmacist
- Plan, administer, organize, and successfully implement all activities in relation to the pharmacy operations, also monitor the important activities and make a report of same.
- Maintain current pharmacy registration, existing and new legislation, anticipates legislation, and advises Chief Pharmacist on needed actions.
- Develops and implements policies, practices and procedures for pharmacy services, ensuring compliance with the Hospital policy and other standards – which the hospital is certified on.
- Review staff annual performance in coordination with the Chief Pharmacist
Knowledge and Competencies
- Thorough knowledge about the drugs related to their doses, substitution and according to therapeutic category. Time management.
- Knowledge of latest development in Pharmacy, Innovative.
- Must have up-to-date knowledge on all newly certified drugs and their prescribed uses.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good organizational skills and have the ability to lead & work in a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good command in I.T./ Computer skills
Requirements
Academic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy.Professional Qualification: M.S, M.Phil., MBA / Equivalence
Working Experience: At least 8- 10 years – Hospital background preferred.
