Resident Shariah Board Member

About the Position

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), a renowned specialized financial institution, is inviting applications for the engagement of a Resident Shariah Board Member (RSBM) at its Head Office, Islamabad. The appointment will be on a contract basis for a period of 3 years (extendable).

Experience & Qualification

Experience:

• The Shariah scholar must have at least 4 years of experience of giving Shariah rulings including the period of Takhassus fil Ifta; or at least 5 years post qualification experience in teaching or Research and Development in Islamic Banking and Finance.
• Preference shall be given to those who have certificate in Takhassus fil Fiqh/Takhassus fil Ifta.
• At least 3 years' experience as Shariah Advisor or Member of SB of any Islamic Financial Institution (IFI) or deputy to a Shariah Advisor or member of the Shariah Team of an IFI.
• Adequate understanding of banking and finance in general and Islamic finance in particular, Fiqh ul Muama'alat, and strong understanding of Islamic jurisprudence.

Qualification:

• Shahadat ul Aalamiyyah Degree (Dars e Nizami) or similar other degree from any recognized institution/Board of Madaris and Bachelor's Degree.
• OR Post Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah or Kuliyyat Usooluddin, L.L.M (Shariah) or equivalent.
• OR Shariah Scholar members of Shariah Board/Committees of internationally reputed organizations.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide explanation/clarification to management and staff of IBI on products, documents, process flows and on other operational Shariah related matters.
• Guide the SCD in conducting Shariah compliance reviews of key business areas on a test check basis.
• Review responses to Shariah related queries of IBI's clients regarding IBI's products and services as submitted by SCD.
• Facilitate the SCD and Training Department in designing and conducting training activities.
• Submit at least a quarterly report to the SB for ratification of all material explanations/clarifications provided.
