Resident Shariah Board Member

About the Job

Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL), a renowned specialized financial institution, is seeking applications for the position of Resident Shariah Board Member (RSBM) at its Head Office located in Islamabad. This role requires an expert Shariah scholar with profound knowledge of Islamic banking and finance to provide guidance and clarification on operational Shariah matters.

Experience Requirements

• The Shariah scholar must have at least 4 years of experience giving Shariah rulings including Takhassus fil Ifta period, or at least 5 years post-qualification experience in teaching, research, and development in Islamic Banking and Finance.
• Preference will be given to holders of Takhassus fil Fiqh/Takhassus fil Ifta certificates.
• Preference may be given to scholars with at least 3 years of experience as a Shariah Advisor or Member of SB in any Islamic Financial Institution (IFI).
• Adequate understanding of banking, finance, Fiqh ul Muama'alat, and Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh).

Qualification Requirements

• Shahadat ul Aalamiyyah (Dars e Nizami) or similar degree from a recognized institution/Board of Madaris along with a Bachelor's Degree (other than Madaris Degree).
  OR
• Post Graduate Degree in Kuliyyatush Shariah or Kuliyyatush Usooluddin, L.L.M (Shariah) or equivalent from a recognized University.
  OR
• Shariah Scholar members of Shariah Board/Committees of internationally reputed organizations operating in other jurisdictions.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide explanation/clarification to management and staff of IBI on products, documents, process flows and Shariah related matters based on SB decisions and fatawa.
• Guide the SCD in conducting Shariah compliance reviews of key business areas.
• Review responses to Shariah related queries of IBI's clients regarding products and services.
• Facilitate the SCD and Training Department in designing and conducting training activities.
• Submit at least a quarterly report to the SB for ratification of all material explanations and clarifications provided.
