The University of Sargodha, as part of a collaborative ACIAR-funded research project (HORT/2020/129) on 'Improving smallholder well-being through participation in modern value chains: Sustaining future growth in the Pakistan citrus industry', is seeking a highly motivated male Research Associate. This position is vital for conducting field research, supporting project teams, and ensuring the smooth implementation of project activities aimed at enhancing the citrus industry in Pakistan. The Research Associate will contribute to both the scientific and practical aspects of the project, working closely with local communities and research partners.Qualifications and Experience
The candidate must hold an M.Phil./M.Sc. (Hons.) or an equivalent degree in Marketing, Agriculture, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, or other relevant disciplines. A minimum of 2-3 years of marketing experience specifically within the agriculture sector will be highly preferred, demonstrating practical exposure to the industry's dynamics. This experience will be crucial for understanding market trends, value chains, and consumer behavior relevant to the citrus industry. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and research skills, enabling them to collect, interpret, and present data effectively.Key Responsibilities
The Research Associate will be expected to frequently travel to villages and project sites to conduct field activities and gather data. Key responsibilities include coordinating and supporting project teams, being stationed in Sargodha to conduct project field activities, and performing as a focal person for project communication activities with other stakeholders of the project. The role also involves being responsible for the implementation of project plans at assigned sites and effectively communicating with farmers, market actors, and project teams in both Pakistan and Australia. These responsibilities demand excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with a proactive approach to research and project management.Contract Details and Compensation
The initial appointment for this position will be for a period of six months, with the potential for extension until the end of the project life, based on performance and project needs. The salary offered is a gross amount of Rs. 90,000/- per month, in addition to travel and daily allowances, compensating for the extensive fieldwork involved. The project administration retains the right to withdraw this advertisement as a whole or in part at any time without providing reasons.Application Process
