About the Seerat Chairs

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has established nine Seerat Chairs dedicated to conducting high-level scholarly research. The purpose of these chairs is to focus on prevalent and modern challenges faced by Pakistani society and provide appropriate guidance based on research on the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). HEC is seeking applications from Pakistani and Foreign Islamic Scholars of international repute and recognized scholarly eminence to occupy these distinguished positions.

Available Chairs and Qualification Requirements

Candidates must possess a PhD degree from an HEC-recognized university/institution in the relevant fields for each chair. The nine available chairs and their specific qualification requirements are as follows:

• 1. Leadership and Governance: PhD in Governance, Leadership, Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, and Management.
• 2. Human Rights and Social Justice: PhD in Human Rights, Law, International Humanitarian Law, Social Welfare, Social Work, and Social Justice.
• 3. Business, Commerce and Property Rights: PhD in Commerce, Management Sciences, Economics, Business Administration, and Intellectual Property Rights.
• 4. Education and Knowledge: PhD in Education, Educational Leadership & Administration, and Knowledge Management.
• 5. Social Justice and Welfare: PhD in Sociology, Social Work, Human Rights, Social Welfare, Community Welfare, and Development Studies.
• 6. Gender Studies & Women Rights: PhD in Gender Studies, Women Rights, Women Empowerment / Development, and Gender Studies & Law.
• 7. Global Peace: PhD in Peace & Conflict Studies, International Relations, Conflict Resolution, Political Science, Counter Terrorism & Deradicalization, Strategic Studies, and Global Studies.
• 8. Interfaith and Communal Harmony: PhD in Social Work, Religious Studies, Conflict Resolution, Public Advocacy, Public Administration, and Community Development.
• 9. Sustainable Development: PhD in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Management, Strategic Planning & Policy, and Economic Development.

Terms and Conditions

The appointment will be on a contract basis, initially for a term of two years, which is renewable. HEC will offer an attractive salary package, which is negotiable and dependent on the candidate's scholarly experience and eminence.
