Education Fellows

Introduction

The Aga Khan University-Institute for Educational Development, Pakistan (AKU-IED) collaborates with the School Education Department (SED) GB to enhance children's access to quality education, improve governance, and involve communities in schools across Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). Under a contract with SED GB for the GB Education Fellows (EFs) project, AKU-IED is recruiting additional Education Fellows for specific locations in Diamer and Shiger districts where positions remained unfilled due to applicant shortages or criteria mismatch. These are contract-based roles running until 30th June 2025.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from interested candidates who are permanent residents of the villages listed below (as per their CNICs) and are motivated to work in government schools within their respective locations in Diamer and Shiger districts.

Available Positions

1. Shigar District (13 positions): One position in each of the following schools: BM School Nar, BP School Molto, BH School Kothang, BP School Shigar Khas, BM School Marakunja, BP School Kiahong, GP School Aliabad, BH School Wazirpur, GH School Gulabpur, GH School Tissar, BP School Prono, BH School Dassu, BH School Thorgo.

2. Diamer District (50 positions):

• Sub-division Chilas (9 positions): BMS Deong Thak, BPS Khaya Niat, BPS Lomer Niat, BPS Mildukush Niat, BPS Gomal Niat, BPS Topper Huder, BHS Huder, GMS Saari Thore.
• Sub-division Darel (6 positions): GMS Shahimahal, BHS Gabar, BPS Yashot, BPS Gayal Bala, BPS Palati Gayal, GPS Sair Khanbary.
• Sub-division Tangir (35 positions): BHS Lurk, BPS Mushkay, BPS Diamer, BPS Koranga Bala, BPS Koranga Pain, BPS Karay Diamer, BPS Khun, BPS Charchal, BPS Gali Akhunkhail, BPS Darkali Pain, BPS Bagyote, BPS Dokay Diamer, BPS Shekho, BPS Dong Sari.

Requirements - General Education Preference

• First Preference: Candidates with 16 years (or higher) education in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, and Computer Science from an HEC-recognized university.
• Second Preference: Those having 16 years (or higher) education in other relevant subjects (e.g., MPhil or MA Education) where science subject candidates are not available.
• Third Preference: Those having 14 years of education preferably in science (or other relevant) subjects.
• Last Preference: Those from marginalized/underserved areas having minimum Intermediate qualification (i.e., 12 years of education) preferably in science (or other relevant) subjects.

Selection Criteria

A two-phase criteria will determine candidate selection:

• Shortlisting: Based on the highest academic qualification, residence of the candidate, percentage of marks in academic qualifications.
• Further Screening: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for further screening which may involve a panel interview cum test, and a short teaching demonstration.
