Company Overview

Power Planning & Monitoring Company (PPMC) is mandated to provide policy and technical support to the Ministry of Energy (Power Division), integrated planning of the Power Sector of Pakistan, development and implementation of strategic plans for the power sector, and to administer, monitor and evaluate the performance of Power Sector Entities under approved policies/plans. PPMC is seeking applications from eligible persons who can perform tasks assigned under thematic areas, National Electricity Plan, and/or Company policies.

Role Profile

The Management Trainee Officer (MTO) Economics will be responsible for supporting the economic analysis and policy development functions within PPMC. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, outstanding problem-solving abilities, sound judgment based on accurate analysis, excellent communication and writing skills. They must be IT savvy, with integrity and maturity to handle confidential company information, and able to prioritize work under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and apply economic models and simulations to support policy analysis.
• Estimate key economic parameters to inform policy recommendations.
• Maintain and update an economic database for decision-making.
• Analyze economic trends impacting the energy industry and conduct forecasting.
• Conduct research using survey data and provide policy insights.
• Review and assess academic literature to enhance modeling and analysis.
• Contribute to policy briefs, reports, and research papers.
• Manage tasks effectively and maintain productive working relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Economics / Econometrics / Public Policy / Development Studies or related fields from an HEC recognized / affiliated institute / university.
• Fresh Graduates from reputable universities are encouraged to apply.

General Conditions

• A minimum CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 or 4.00 out of 5.00 or 80% marks (for local graduates) and 65% marks (for foreign graduates) is a requisite for the degree on which the candidate may apply. Such degree shall not be issued later than three (3) years from the date of advertisement.
• Any candidate possessing a foreign degree has to produce equivalency from HEC/PEC.
• The maximum age limit is 30 years as of the closing date of the advertisement. No age relaxation will be permitted.
• The selected candidate will be offered a remuneration package of Rs.100,000/- per month on a lump-sum basis.
• The candidate will be initially engaged for a period of one year. Thereafter, they will be evaluated through a comprehensive process for selection as Assistant Specialist / Assistant Manager in the relevant field, subject to availability of the post in the company; otherwise, the contract will automatically stand terminated.
