Role Overview
The General Manager, Infrastructure and Planning, will lead and manage TRANSKARACHI units responsible for civil works implementation, environmental and social safeguards, asset management, and infrastructure planning. This pivotal role involves overseeing all construction activities along Karachi's bus corridors, with a strong focus on construction quality, durability, and long-term maintenance. The successful candidate will ensure strict adherence to occupational health and safety standards, champion best practices in design and delivery, and effectively manage contractor relationships. This is a contractual position, and hiring will be conducted through a rigorous, merit-based selection process.Key Responsibilities
The key responsibilities for the General Manager, Infrastructure & Planning include:- Providing leadership for the implementation of construction activities, ensuring they align with project timelines and established standards.
- Ensuring full compliance with occupational health and safety safeguards across all work sites.
- Overseeing contractor performance and managing relationships to achieve high standards of quality and durability in all construction work.
- Supervising and evaluating the activities of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring their alignment with overall project goals.
- Monitoring the conditions of built infrastructure to proactively address ongoing maintenance needs and implement necessary modifications professionally and promptly.
- Embedding international best practices for design, project delivery, and safety protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following qualification and experience criteria:Qualification:
- A minimum of a Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field from an HEC-accredited university.
- Degrees from renowned foreign universities will be considered an advantage.
- Training or formal education in FIDIC contract administration is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 15 years of professional experience, which must include at least 5 years in a senior management position (e.g., Director, General Manager).
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in implementing large-scale urban infrastructure projects, with a particular emphasis on road-based projects.
- Experience working with international financing institutions is highly advantageous.
