Professor (Urdu) (BPS-21)

Position Overview

Applications are invited from highly qualified individuals for the position of Professor (BPS-21) in the Department of Urdu at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. The role involves academic leadership, conducting and promoting research in Urdu literature and language, teaching, and supervising postgraduate students. This position is located at the Main Campus.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must fulfill the following criteria for the Professor (Urdu) position:

1. Education: PhD in Urdu or a relevant field from an HEC-recognized university/institution.
2. Experience:
   • Fifteen (15) years of teaching/research experience in an HEC-recognized university or postgraduate institution, OR fifteen (15) years of professional experience in Urdu language/literature or a relevant field in a national or international organization.
   • OR Ten (10) years of post-PhD teaching/research experience in an HEC-recognized university or postgraduate institution, OR ten (10) years of post-PhD professional experience in Urdu language/literature or a relevant field in a national or international organization.
3. Publications: A minimum of fifteen (15) research publications are required, with at least five (05) of these published in the last five (05) years in HEC-recognized journals.
4. Age Limit: Candidates up to 45 years of age are eligible for initial appointment.

Application Submission Process

Interested and eligible candidates are invited to apply for this position at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. The application process is as follows:

1. Application Form: Obtain the prescribed application form. It can be downloaded from the university's official website: www.salu.edu.pk, or collected from the office of the Assistant Registrar (Teach), Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur.
2. Required Documents: Submit the completed application form along with attested photocopies of all relevant documents. This includes Pass Certificates, Marks Sheets, Transcripts, Publications, and Experience Certificates.
3. Processing Fee: A non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 4,000/- is mandatory for each application. This fee must be paid via a challan pay order into Account No. 12080001440701, Habib Bank Limited, Shah Abdul Latif University branch, or any online branch of Habib Bank Limited.
4. Submission: The complete application package, including the form, documents, and original fee challan, must reach the undersigned (Registrar, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur) on or before the deadline.
5. Multiple Posts: If applying for more than one position, submit a separate application form and a separate bank challan for each post.
6. Through Proper Channel: Candidates already in government/semi-government service should apply through the proper channel.
7. Deadline: The last date for submission of applications is July 02, 2025.
8. Additional Submission for Professor: Candidates applying for the post of Professor must submit four (04) copies of their CVs. These should be accompanied by the required research papers and other relevant documents detailing work/teaching experience, research publications, and academic qualifications, submitted in triplicate and properly bounded.

Important Terms and Conditions

Applicants should take note of the following terms and conditions:

1. Basis of Appointment: Faculty and other positions will be hired on a contract basis, OR the University may make appointments with a contributory pension scheme.
2. PhD Verification: PhD degrees must be attested/verified by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on or before the closing date.
3. Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for a test/interview. Ineligible candidates will not be informed or called.
4. Incomplete Applications: Applications that are incomplete in any respect will be rejected.
5. Right to Cancel: The University reserves the right to cancel any or all of the advertised posts at any stage without assigning any reason.
6. No TA/DA: No travel allowance or daily allowance will be provided for appearing in the test/interview.
