Job Overview

The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), on behalf of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual for the position of Professor of Neurosurgery (BPS-20) at Sargodha Medical College, Sargodha. This critical academic role is offered on a contract basis for an initial period of three years, with potential extensions based on good performance. The selected candidate will be instrumental in teaching, research, and clinical development within the Neurosurgery department, contributing to the education of future medical professionals and advanced patient care.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)/Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC). Additionally, candidates must possess FCPS or MS or FRCS or MRCP or MD or Diploma of American Board in the respective specialty, or equivalent medical qualification recognized by the Pakistan Medical Commission/Pakistan Medical & Dental Council. In terms of experience, candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience as an Associate Professor in the subject, or 9 years of teaching experience as an Assistant/Associate Professor in a recognized institution. Furthermore, the candidate must have at least 5 research papers published in a standard medical journal while working as an Assistant/Associate Professor.

Age, Gender, and Domicile

For male candidates, the age limit is 35 to 50 years, with a general age relaxation extending up to 55 years. For female candidates, the age limit is 35 to 50 years, with a general age relaxation extending up to 58 years. The position is open to Male, Female, and Transgender individuals. Applicants must possess an All Punjab Basis domicile, indicating that candidates from any district in Punjab are eligible to apply.

Application Process

Applicants are directed to provide hard copies of their online application form along with two photocopy sets of all relevant documents and relevant research papers within 07 working days after the closing date. Applications will be treated as rejected, and no further communication will be entertained if hard copies are not submitted. Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC)/Pakistan Medical Commission registration should be valid up to the closing date. Only relevant ORIGINAL ARTICLES published in book-form, presented in conferences, or editorials are admissible as published research papers. However, review articles, case-studies/reports, translations, and briefs published in a recognized foreign journal shall be accepted if duly indexed by PMDC/PMC. Experience gained in Government Sector in respect of Contract, Current Charge, Acting Charge, and on Ad-hoc basis (up to 17.06.2021) will be considered. Experience gained from Foreign/Autonomous body/Private institution will only be accepted if it is issued by the Appointing/Competent Authority. Eligibility and shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews.
