Job Overview

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Government of Pakistan, is seeking qualified and dynamic individuals for the role of MIS Officer. This position is offered on a contract basis in BPS-16 within various field formations of the Pakistan Customs Department. A total of 81 vacancies are available. The initial appointment will be purely on contract for a period of two (02) years, which may be extended further based on satisfactory performance and government policies. Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in the MIS Officer position must meet the following criteria:

Educational Qualification:
  • Second Class or Grade 'C' Master's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent from a University recognized by HEC.
  • OR
  • Second Class or Grade 'C' Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or equivalent from a University recognized by HEC.

Age Limit:
  • Minimum: 20 years
  • Maximum: 28 years
This age limit includes a 5-year general age relaxation as per government rules. Further age relaxations for specific categories are applicable as detailed below.

Vacancy Distribution (Regional Quota)

The 81 vacancies for MIS Officer are distributed on an All Pakistan Basis as follows:

  • Sindh (Urban): 06 (Merit=05, Women=01, Minority=00)

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 09 (Merit=08, Women=01, Minority=00)
  • Balochistan: 05 (Merit=04, Women=01, Minority=00)
  • Ex-FATA: 02 (Merit=02, Women=00, Minority=00)
  • Gilgit-Baltistan (GB): 01 (Merit=01, Women=00, Minority=00)
  • Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K): 01 (Merit=01, Women=00, Minority=00)

Age Relaxation

In addition to the 05 years general upper age limit relaxation (already included in the 20-28 years range), further upper age relaxation will be admissible to the following categories of candidates as per the relevant Rules/Policy of the Federal Government:
  • (i) a. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Buddhist Community, recognized tribes of the Tribal Areas, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for all posts under the Federal Government: 03 Years
  • (i) b. Candidates belonging to Sindh (R) and Balochistan for posts in BPS-15 and below under the Federal Government: 03 Years (Note: This specific clause is for BPS-15 and below; MIS Officer is BPS-16)
  • (ii) Released or Retired Officers/Personnel of the Armed Forces of Pakistan: 15 years or the number of years actually served in the Armed Forces of Pakistan, whichever is less.
  • (iii) Government Servants who have completed 02 years continuous Government Service on the closing date for receipt of applications: 10 years, upto the age of 55 years.
  • (iv) Disabled persons for appointment to posts in BPS-15 and below: 10 years (Note: This specific clause is for BPS-15 and below. However, a general 2% quota for disabled persons is applicable as per government policy).
  • (v) Widow, son or daughter of a deceased civil servant who dies during service: 05 years

General Conditions and Instructions

Applicants must adhere to the following conditions:
  • Appointment will be made purely on contract basis for a period of two (02) years in terms of guidelines for appointment on contract basis issued by the Establishment Division vide O.M No. 8/10/2000-CP-I dated 21.03.2000 as amended from time to time. In exceptional cases, further extension beyond two (02) years will be considered by the Authority.
  • Vacancies shall be filled by appointment of persons domiciled in their respective province/region/district of each office strictly under Rule 15 of the aforesaid rules and instructions issued by the Establishment Division from time to time.
  • Candidates will be required to bring original documents (Educational, Domicile and Experience Certificate etc.) along with one set of attested copies of all documents at the time of interview.
  • Screening / skill tests (where required) will be conducted as per Recruitment Policy of the Federal Government.
  • 10% quota for women, 5% quota for minorities (non-Muslims) shall also be strictly observed as per Government policy/instructions. Disabled persons will have to submit a Disability Certificate from Medical Assessment Board under the Ministry of Human Rights (Council on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities), Islamabad at the time of interview.
  • The Customs field formations reserve the right not to fill any vacancy or to reduce/increase the number of vacancies, if the circumstances so warranted at the time of final selection.
  • Minimum and Maximum age shall be calculated on the closing date for receipt of applications. Information provided in the online Application Form will be verified. In case of any false or forged information, Customs field formations/FBR reserves the right to cancel candidature of any candidate at any stage (even after employment, if so revealed later) and to initiate legal action against the applicant.
  • Only short-listed candidates will be called for test/interview. All the candidates will be allowed provisionally to appear in the test/interview, subject to detailed scrutiny of their eligibility as per relevant criteria.
  • No TA/DA will be admissible for the Test/Interview.
