Program Overview

King Edward Medical University (KEMU), in collaboration with Mayo Hospital Lahore and the College of Ophthalmology & Allied Vision Sciences (COAVS), is offering a two-year Masters in Community Eye Health (MCEH) program. This program is structured to provide advanced education and training in eye health, focusing on community-level interventions and public health aspects of ophthalmology. Located in Lahore, Pakistan, this course is designed to equip medical professionals with specialized knowledge and skills to address eye health challenges in communities, thereby improving public health outcomes and access to eye care services.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the Masters in Community Eye Health (MCEH) program must hold an MBBS degree from a recognized institution. In terms of experience, candidates should ideally have at least one year of experience in Ophthalmology. Alternatively, applicants with an MBBS degree and at least six months of experience in Ophthalmology combined with six months in General Medicine, or at least six months experience each in General Medicine and General Surgery, are also eligible. There are a total of 05 seats available for this program. Candidates must hold a Punjab domicile. Government servants are required to apply through proper channel and submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their parent departments. Regular government employees from the P&SH and SHC&ME departments, if selected on merit, may pursue the course by obtaining study leave or Ex-Pakistan Leave (EOL) only, and will not be granted deputation for this program. Simultaneous study and job holding in the same or other institutions is not permitted.

The last date for submission of the application form is June 14, 2025. Duly filled application forms, along with all necessary supporting documents mentioned in the application form, must reach the office of the Course Coordinator at COAVS (Room U-6) before the closing of office hours on the last date of application submission. Interview dates for shortlisted candidates will be communicated to eligible candidates at a later stage. Please note that no hostel accommodation is promised, and fees will be charged as per the instructions provided by KEMU/Health Department. No TA/DA will be admissible for interviews.
