Program Overview

Embark on a transformative journey into the world of journalism with DAWN Newspaper's prestigious six-month paid internship program. This initiative, run in collaboration with the Australian High Commission in Pakistan, is tailored for aspiring journalists based in Karachi. The program is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience, including professional editorial training, hands-on experience in a dynamic newsroom environment, and valuable opportunities for field reporting. The internship is scheduled to begin in July 2025.

Internship Structure and Schedule

The six-month internship is structured into two distinct phases to ensure a well-rounded experience:

• Phase 1 (First 2 months): Focus on editorial training, conducted from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
• Phase 2 (Last 4 months): Involves immersive newsroom work and practical fieldwork, with shifts running from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM.

A key requirement for this role is a willingness to work night shifts during the second phase of the program. A stipend will be provided to all selected interns.

Eligibility Criteria

This opportunity is open to:

• Final-year university students.
• Fresh graduates.

Candidates must be based in Karachi and possess the following attributes:

• Strong command of the English language.
• A keen interest in current affairs.
• A willingness to work night shifts as required by the program structure.
