The Home Department, Government of Punjab, is inviting applications for a dedicated Hardware Technician for a contract-based position. This role is fundamental to the operational continuity of the department's IT infrastructure, ensuring all hardware components function reliably. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential technical support for computer systems and peripherals, playing a direct role in maintaining the efficiency of public sector services.

The Hardware Technician's primary responsibilities will focus on comprehensive hardware troubleshooting and the meticulous installation of computer systems. This includes diagnosing and resolving a wide range of hardware-related issues, from component failures to connectivity problems, ensuring minimal downtime. A strong command of computer installation procedures is essential, covering everything from setting up new workstations to configuring peripherals and integrating them into the existing network. The role demands proficiency in maintaining various hardware components within the public sector environment, requiring a proactive approach to prevent issues and ensure system longevity. The technician will also be expected to assist with routine maintenance tasks and provide on-site support as needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for the Hardware Technician position, applicants must meet specific educational and experience requirements. Educationally, candidates should possess a three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Electrical or Electronics, obtained with a Second Division from a recognized Board. This diploma provides the necessary foundational knowledge in hardware and electrical systems.

Professionally, a minimum of seven (07) years of post-qualification experience is mandatory. This experience must be directly relevant to hardware troubleshooting and demonstrate a good command of computer installation techniques, preferably within the public sector. The breadth and depth of this experience are crucial for effectively managing the hardware needs of a governmental department. The combination of a specialized diploma and extensive practical experience ensures the candidate is well-equipped to handle the technical demands of the role.

Age Limit and Essential Attributes

The age limit for applicants for the Hardware Technician position is between 28 and 40 years. Beyond the technical qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess excellent diagnostic skills, a methodical approach to problem-solving, and a keen attention to detail. The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently is also highly valued. Strong communication skills are important for explaining technical issues to non-technical staff and coordinating with other IT team members, ensuring effective and timely support across the department.
