Job Overview

National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a large public sector insurance company owned by the Government of Pakistan, is seeking to hire two Chief Medical Officers (CMO). The positions are available at the Head Office in Karachi and the Zonal Office in Islamabad. The appointment is on a 3-year retainership basis, offering a unique opportunity for medical professionals to work in a corporate environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the CMO position:

• Qualification: An MBBS Degree from a recognized institution. An FCPS qualification will be preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience, including a house job in general medicine. Having 3 years of experience in tertiary healthcare will be considered an advantage.
• Age Limit: Applicants must be between 35 and 45 years of age.
• Gender: Both Male and Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Duties and Functions

The Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for a range of duties during a 5-hour daily schedule (between 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM) at the NICL office. Key responsibilities include:

• Attending to emergency cases.
• Examining employees and referring them to specialists or hospitals as required.
• Visiting hospitals to ensure proper treatment for admitted employees or their dependents.
• Scrutinizing and endorsing medical bill payments.
• Conducting medical examinations for newly recruited employees and examining cases of chronic diseases.
• Administering the medical facilities for NICL employees and managing related expenses.
• The scope of work for the CMO in Karachi includes matters of the Head Office, Zonal office, and Branch offices of the NICL South Zone. For the CMO in Islamabad, it covers the Zonal office and Branch offices of the NICL North Zone.
• The CMO must also be available telephonically beyond office hours for emergency situations.

Important notes for applicants:

• A verified MBBS Degree (from HEC) from a PMDC-recognized institute must be attached.

• Selection will be strictly on merit, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. No TA/DA will be admissible.
