Job Overview

The National Institute of Psychology is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Assistant Librarian / Cataloguer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the organization, maintenance, and accessibility of library resources. This role requires a combination of technical skills, knowledge of library science, and a commitment to providing excellent service to library users. The position is based in Islamabad and offers an opportunity to contribute to a leading psychology research institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the cataloging and classification of library materials, including books, journals, and electronic resources.
• Maintain the library's database and ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
• Provide support to library users in locating and accessing library resources.
• Assist in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures.
• Participate in collection development activities, including selecting and ordering new materials.
• Assist with the maintenance of the library's physical collection, including shelving and organizing materials.
• Provide training and guidance to library staff and users on library systems and resources.
• Stay current with developments in library science and technology.

Eligibility Criteria

• Bachelor Degree in Natural or Social Sciences with Diploma in Library Sciences.
• Two years experience of Library work in a University, Govt or Semi-Government Library.
• Maximum age limit: 30 years.

Application Method

Interested candidates should submit their application form (1 hard copy) along with complete documents, including the required Pay Order, Bank Draft, or Paid Challan (only Askari Bank, QAU Branch) for Rs. 1000/- (non-refundable), drawn in favor of the Director, National Institute of Psychology, Quaid-i-Azam University. Applications must be submitted within 30 days, up to 22nd April, 2025.

Applicants working in Government, Semi-Government Organizations, or Autonomous Bodies should apply through the proper channel with a No Objection Certificate (NOC). After shortlisting, candidates will be interviewed by the Departmental Selection Committee for final selection. No TA/DA will be admissible for the interview.
